These paintings were painted en plein air or outdoors in real time. Every sense is receiving input from the surroundings so it's an invigorating experience. 

Simplification of shapes, colors, and brushstrokes is key to capturing the light effects and feel of the moment.

Plein air painting keeps me in a constant state of learning.

The Camp Christmas series is a collection of oil paintings that imagines what my family's camp in the Adirondack Mountains might look like at Christmastime.  Scenes are from either inside or outside the camp, with a touch of whimsy. 

The tradition now spans a decade with each new painting connecting everyone to a place we love but cannot visit in winter.

These paintings also end up on the cover of the annual Camp Christmas card. Many have saved the cards over the years and look forward to the next edition.
